PA Arabs rally on Palestinian (Terrorist) Prisoners Day in Nablus, April 17, 2019.
Banks operating in the Palestinian Authority (PA) have closed 35,000 bank accounts of imprisoned terrorists, released terrorists, and families of dead terrorists, a result of action taken by Palestinian Media Watch (PMW).
PMW had notified the banks that if they continued to operate these accounts and process payments from the PA to terrorists, it would be a violation of Israeli law, exposing them to civil and criminal liability.

In response to PMWâs warning, the banks closed the accounts of the terrorists.
However, the PA did not heed PMWâs warning, and in April, for the first time since the Israeli law came into effect, the PA paid the illegal salaries to imprisoned and released terrorists, and allowances of the families of the dead terrorists through the PAâs postal service.

Palestinian organizations meet in Cairo
After all the parties and factions (36 in number) had registered, the Central Elections Committee received 231 objections (Wafa, April 10, 2021). Most of the objections were from Fatah parties. Hamas entered no objections. A source in Hamas reported that while they had more than 40 objections to candidates on Fatah tickets, they had not entered them because of understandings reached between Fatah and Hamas in Cairo (al-Akhbar, April 10, 2021).
