Airport & Aviation Services Lanka (Pvt) Ltd Director Shehan Sumanasekara stated that the first flight carrying Ukraine passengers to Sri Lanka will reach the Mattala Rajapaksa International Airport at 02:40 p.m. today (28).
The flight is a part of the pilot project which will operate on trial and error basis to judge the probability of welcoming back the travellers to the country.
The travellers arriving in Sri Lanka will be operated under strict travel bubble concept which lacks the interaction with the locals. The bubbles will operate in Bentota, Koggala and Beruwala.
The group will be subjected to PCR testing at the arrival before the transfer to the designated hotels, where they can enjoy the restricted beach areas.

COLOMBO (News 1st): Steps will be taken to release close to 5000 inmates before 31st December 2020, and a mechanism is in place to release inmates who are imprisoned for minor offences, Lohan Ratwatta, the State Minister of Prison Management and Prisoners’ Rehabilitation said on Saturday (Dec. 12).
“There exists a severe issue of congestion at prisons, where there are 29 prisons and two rehabilitation centres in the country that can accommodate only about 11,000 inmates. However, at present, there are 25,000 inmates detained at prison complexes,” State Minister Lohan Ratwatta told News 1st.
