Centre invites expressions of interest for 26% stake sale in BEML IANS
New Delhi: The Central government has invited expressions of interest (EoI) for the strategic sale of 26 per cent stake in Bharat Earth-Movers Ltd (BEML).
BEML is a ‘Miniratna’ Category-1 Public Sector Undertaking, under the administrative control of Ministry of Defence. The government currently holds 54.03 per cent stake in it.
“Govt has issued the PIM/EOI for disinvestment of 26 per cent equity share capital of BEML Ltd along with transfer of management control. Disinvestment will be through a two stage competitive bidding process,” said a tweet by the Twitter handle of the Secretary, Department of Investment and Public Asset Management.

The disinvestment of Air India is to enter its second stage on January 5 next year, when the names of the qualified bidders will be announced.
The process has been divided into two stages, as explained by Civil Aviation Secretary Pradeep Singh Kharola at a press conference. In the first stage, expressions of interest (EoI) were received from interested bidders who will now be shortlisted contingent on their eligibility as defined by the terms in the Preliminary Information Memorandum (PIM), reported ANI.

Air India s chairman Rajiv Bansal on December 29 said that the disinvestment-bound national airliner made a cash loss of Rs 3,600 crore in FY 2019-20.
Maintaining that the loss was much less than FY 2018-19, Bansal stated transporting stranded Indians from overseas since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in sequential improvement in its income this financial year.
