The new Princeton University Empower conference strives to broaden opportunities for academic entrepreneurs from different historically underrepresented groups. This first conference in the series, Empower 2021, will focus on Black entrepreneurs from throughout academia, bringing together national thought-leaders to share actionable knowledge and tools that can help transform university discoveries into companies and ventures that advance societal and economic progress.
Day 1 of Empower 2021 will also feature a pitch competition offering a $100,000 top cash prize, bundles of in-kind services, one-to-one meetings with select venture capital firms, and expert mentoring and coaching.
All are welcome. Registration is free.
Empower is a Princeton Innovation event, organized by Princeton Entrepreneurship Council.

Tough Tech technology that’s hard to fund because it’s so complex, takes so long to develop and doesn’t offer the recurring revenue streams that investors love was the topic of a conversation at Princeton University during its recent virtual reunion.
The discussion, presented by the Princeton Entrepreneurship Council, was moderated by Karen Roter Davis, of Princeton’s class of ’94, who is a director at X, the moonshot factory (Mountain View, Calif.), a Google company.
