Positive COVID-19 case at St John Community School and St Catherine Catholic School

The Prince Albert Catholic School Division is reporting that the Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) has identified a positive COVID-19 case at St. John Community School and St. Catherine Catholic School. According to a media release, the positive case has been shared with the school community and the specific classroom(s)/cohort(s) involved. The SHA is assessing the situation and all close contacts will be given instructions. They division will not be able to share details to protect the privacy of the individuals. “We want to reassure families of St. Catherine Catholic School and St. John Community School that the school will continue to operate for in-person classes while maintaining the safety protocols that are in place,” the release stated.

PA Catholic School Division s improvements to air quality in schools nearly complete

The Prince Albert Catholic School Division announced on Friday they have nearly completed their project to improve air quality within each of their schools. The school board has been working on improving air quality in its schools since the early days of the pandemic in the spring of 2020, shortly after it was discovered that COVID-19 was an airborne virus. “The Board of Education proactively knew air quality was extremely important and rallied to proceed to approve the project,” said board chair Suzanne Stubbs in a statement. Stubbs credits the Board of Education, school division personnel, and the associated contractors for their commitment to completing the project while improving conditions for students and staff.

Close contacts have been notified, as have the school community. “We want to reassure families of École St. Mary High School that the school will continue to operate for in-person classes while maintaining the safety protocols that are in place,” the Catholic School Division said in a media release on Saturday. “To protect privacy, we are not able to share or discuss details.” –

FSIN encourages school divisions to adopt ribbon skirt day

The challenge from the Federation of Sovereign Indigenous Nations (FSIN) Executive, comes after news a 10-year-old girl in Kamsack was told by school staff member the handmade skirt she was wearing, did not fit in with the formal day standards and that it should have compared with another child’s clothing. The Good Spirit School Division has since apologized, and promised to review the incident.
