WHS seniors give back to community

Principal Josh Noble said he hopes to continue the annual day of service. Written By: Leah Ward | × Seniors couldn t visit the elderly in person this year, so they wrote letters instead. (Submitted photo) WORTHINGTON While younger Worthington High School students demonstrated their knowledge Wednesday during the annual Minnesota Comprehensive Assessments (MCAs), seniors showed their hearts by performing a number of acts of service throughout the community. WHS first tried the senior day of service in 2019, said Principal Josh Noble. Since the seniors don t take the MCAs, Noble wanted to find another way for them to be productive on standardized test day.

Clearmount Elementary in North Canton collects items for seniors

NORTH CANTON Not all lessons come from books; some come from the heart. Take, for example, the students at Clearmount Elementary School, where they just finished a two-week community service project for nursing homes. The student body, K-2, collected homemade and store-bought items meant to ease the isolation and loneliness COVID-19 has on seniors in assisted living facilities. So much was collected the school will donate to two places. The students also made Valentine s Day cards.  We were blown away with the support, said Principal Josh Runner.   I think it did so well because of the personal experiences people are having with their families.
