Property developers slap Jo’burg environmentalist and conservancy with R197m lawsuit 1 Mar 2021 Century Property Developments and Riversands Developments are suing Kristin Kallesen and her nonprofit, Greater Equestrian Kyalami Conservancy (Gecko), for the income they have allegedly lost because of objections raised by her and Gecko against development approvals in and adjoining the conservancy. A Johannesburg environmentalist and the conservancy she runs have been slapped with a R197-million lawsuit by two property developers after raising what they allege are “obstructive, delaying and frustrating” objections to their projects in Riversands and Helderfontein. Century Property Developments and Riversands Developments are suing Kristin Kallesen and her nonprofit, Greater Kyalami Conservancy (Gekco), for the income they have allegedly lost because of objections raised by her and Gekco against development approvals in and adjoining the conservancy.

Permission sought for 72 housing units in Castleisland

Planning is being sought for a major housing development in Castleisland. LSG Property Developments Limited has applied to Kerry County Council to demolish an existing disused funeral home at Cahereen West, Killarney Road and build 72 housing units. The proposed development comprises six apartments, 15 two-bed houses, 44 three-bed houses and 7 three-bed end-of-terrace houses. It also includes 139 car parking spaces; bicycle parking and a pedestrian walk along the bank of the River Maine. A decision from planners is due on the application in the coming weeks.

Dan Trivedi, founder of Trivedi Property Developments, hopes to build the homes, in a three-storey building, on the site of the now-demolished Vikings Venture Scout Hut on Dereham Road in Norwich. An application for the site was refused by Norwich City Council in 2014, but allowed on appeal in 2016. But with permission for construction having expired in 2019, Mr Trivedi resubmitted the same plans.
