MUMBAI: The Byculla Women’s prison and Arthur Road jail on Friday completed the first dose of vaccination to all 3,500 prisoners lodged in the two Mumbai jails.
As many as 250 women inmates were vaccinated in the third round on Friday. The vaccination special camp was organised in a joint venture by the state prison department and Project Mumbai, a city-based NGO.
“Besides vaccinating 250 women inmates of the Byculla Women’s prison on Friday, 20 jail staffers and 75 male inmates (from Byculla men’s prison and some from the Arthur Road jail) were also vaccinated. The women who got vaccination included three foreign nationals as well,” said Shishir Joshi, CEO and founder of Project Mumbai.

Ride-hailing major Uber on Wednesday announced it is dedicating Rs 3.65 crore to its COVID-19 relief package, offering free rides to facilitate transportation of oxygen cylinders, concentrators, ventilators, and other critical medical equipment.
Uber is carrying out the relief work through partnership with non-governmental organisations, including
Project Mumbai, American India Foundation, and The Good Quest Foundation.
