GUWAHATI: In a major development from the Indian Army and Assam Rifles, two of the three Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC) employees who were abducted by the United Liberation Front of Asom-Independent (ULFA-I) have been rescued in the Mon district of Nagaland on Friday night.
According to reports, the joint operation began on April 23 night when two abducted employees identified as Alakesh Saikia and Mohinimohan Gogoi were rescued by the team.

On 21st April outlawed United Liberation Front of Asom (Independent) militants kidnapped three persons from a work over rig site of ONGC located within Lakwa T.E. Cholapather grant under Sivasagar district.
Five militants came to the site and kidnapped the ONGC staff in an Ambulance kept in the site.
Following the kidnapping of three employees of ONGC, Assam police has asked all Superintendents of Police of upper Assam districts to review the security arrangements of OIL and
ONGC infrastructures under their jurisdiction, especially those located in interior places.

A pro-talk ULFA leader along with two others have been arrested by Guwahati city police for allegedly plotting to assassinate Assam Finance minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
Pro-talk ULFA (United Liberation Front of Asom) leader Pradip Gogoi was arrested by police from his residence at Hatigaon area in the city and produced him before a court in Guwahati on Tuesday. Police have also arrested two others from Karbi Anglong district in connection with the case.
GUWAHATI: Three people, including Ulfa pro-talks faction vice-chairman Pradeep Gogoi, were arrested under Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act on Tues.

Guwahati: Three members of the pro-talk United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA), including one of its leaders, have been arrested for an alleged plot to assassinate the state s Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, police said. On Monday a secret input was received from a reliable source that a group of ULFA (pro-talk) militants along with some unidentified members of the group conspired to assassinate the Finance Minister of Assam Himanta Biswa Sarma by using firearms and explosives, the Chief Public Relation Officers of Assam Police said.
