Govt did not err in handling pandemic

Ravi said the State government did not err in handling the COVID-19 situation. “But we failed to follow the guidelines”, he said at a press conference in Hassan on Thursday. The government was anticipating that the cases in the second wave of the virus would be double the cases reported in the first wave. But, the cases were 15 times more. “This is not the time do politics on the pandemic. Congress leaders are targeting the government. They should look at the situation in Congress-ruled States as well”, he said. Further he said that the situation should be viewed as medical emergency, instead of blaming the party in power. “Because we exported vaccination to many countries, now many countries have come forward to help us combat the pandemic”, he said.

JALANDHAR: After BJP national general secretary Tarun Chugh announced that the BJP will have a Dalit CM if the party would come to power in Punjab, party’s state organising secretary Dinesh Kumar has revealed that the party has not yet taken any decision on the issue. He has, however, said BJP is the only party which could give respect to Dalits. “The decision to make a Dalit CM has not yet been taken,” he said, when asked that when this decision was taken by the BJP. When asked about the announcement about this already made by Chugh, he said, “Chugh should be asked about that.”

Ravi has alleged that Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha leader Kodihalli Chandrashekhar was creating anarchy in the state by calling for KSRTC employees’ strike. Speaking to presspersons in Chikkamagaluru on Wednesday, Mr. Ravi said creating anarchy could be easy. But that would not be the quality of a leader. “All these days he was a farmers’ leader. Now, he has become a labour leader”, he commented. The Centre had passed three laws in favour of farmers. But, Mr. Kodihalli Chandrashekhar termed it anti-farmer laws. “These are the people who wanted opportunities for farmers to sell their produces anywhere. When the opportunity was given through a law, they are opposing it”, he said.
