The team started off by visiting affected areas in Tiruvarangulam block in Pudukottai district to get a first-hand account of the extent of damage to crops due to the inundation of fields following heavy rain triggered by the cyclone. Accompanied by Commissioner of Revenue Administration K. Phanindra Reddy and Collector P. Uma Maheswari, the team inspected the damage caused to paddy crops at Nambukuzhi village in Kathakurichi panchayat.

Vijayabaskar said on Tuesday. The move was part of the government’s efforts to fulfill the requirements of the people of the constituency where several developmental schemes were being executed, Mr. Vijayabaskar said, inaugurating an Amma mobile ration shop at Kalkuthampatti village in Rajagiri panchayat.

Vehicle owners urged to remove bull-bars, crash guards

Updated: Share Article AAA The district administration has directed vehicle owners to remove bull-bars and crash guards fixed in their vehicles as such extra fittings have been banned by the Union government. “Bull-bars and crash guards endanger the safety of passengers of the vehicles and those of other road users. Hence, they have been banned by the Union government through a notification issued in December 2017. The Madras High Court, while hearing a case, has also directed stern action against the use of such fittings,” Collector P.Uma Maheswari said in a press release. The use of such extra fittings change the design and dimensions of the vehicles and could transfer the crash energy from the crumble zone directly to the vehicle’s body and passengers in case of a crash. Uma Maheswari on Thursday warned traders that their licence would be cancelled if they sold fertilizers at a higher price. There was adequate stock of fertilizers required for the samba crops at cooperative institutions and private outlets in the district, the Collector further said in an official press release here. Ms. Uma Maheswari said paddy had been raised on 84,884 hectares in the district during the current samba season. Fertilizers such as urea, ammonium sulphate and complex were being sold to farmers through agricultural cooperative and credit societies and private outlets. Fertilizer traders should display information regarding the stock and price every day on the information board to enable farmers know about them.
