Helena school board selects Rossiter principal Weltz as top choice for superintendent job By: Jonathon Ambarian and last updated 2021-02-19 20:56:15-05 HELENA — Helena Public Schools leaders have named their choice for the district’s next superintendent. Trustees voted Friday afternoon to pursue a contract with Rex Weltz, the current principal of Rossiter Elementary School and the former superintendent of the Polson School District. The decision came after the school board held final interviews Friday morning. The other finalist was Kevin Aten, the superintendent of the Bayfield School District in Bayfield, Colorado. Board members said both were extremely strong candidates.
