NBN News | STOLEN GOODS FOUND AT LAKE MACQUARIE HOME

A man has been charged after property alleged to be stolen was found at a Lake Macquarie home yesterday. Officers have been investigating alleged break-ins at homes and theft from vehicles in the area between January 25 and February 4 this year. Police attended a home on Quigley Road, Bolton Point, about 4pm yesterday. They spoke to a 27-year-old man in the shed, where a large amount of property – including bicycles, fishing equipment and power tools was found. The man was arrested and taken to Toronto Police Station, where he was charged with enter building/land with intent to commit indictable offence, and four counts of goods suspected stolen in/on premises.

Newcastle Supreme Court Justice Helen Wilson on Thursday accepted Paul Newburn was less culpable because his entrenched drug use and extensive criminal history had only started after he was sexually abused as a teenager when being held in a juvenile remand centre. Justice Wilson said Newburn, who had undiagnosed ADHD and Tourette s syndrome, turned to heavy use of ice and heroin to cope with the trauma of what happened to him when he was 16 or 17 and had been in a state of panic when confronted by the good Samaritan Glen Smith.
