The state recorded 111 new cases on Saturday, prompting sweeping new restrictions, with residents of Canterbury-Bankstown, Liverpool and Fairfield now banned from leaving their council areas unless they are health or emergency services workers. Canterbury Bankstown Mayor Khal Asfour accused the state government of making policy on the run in its handling of the outbreak.

Police chopper searches for wanted man

Premium Content Subscriber only A helicopter seen circling above the Sunshine Coast on Thursday afternoon was searching for a wanted man.  Caloundra Criminal Investigation Branch plain clothes constable Alex McEwan at 4pm said the Pol Air helicopter had been stood down and police were yet to make an arrest. He said it wasn t known whether or not the man was armed.   A member of the public told the Daily residents were asked to lock their doors just before 3pm after half a dozen police cars were seen heading down Caloundra Rd near the Bruce Highway.
