For the first time since entering office, Public Security Minister Omer Bar-Lev visited the headquarters of the police’s Lahav 433 national investigations unit in Lod Wednesday. He was accompanied by Police Commissioner Kobi Shabtai and Deputy Public Security Minister Yoav Segalovitz, who founded the unit.
The visit came two weeks after former Deputy Interior Minister and lawmaker Faina Kirshenbaum of Yisrael Beiteinu was sentenced to 10 years in prison for corruption offenses. Lawmaker David Bitan of Likud is scheduled to face trial soon on several corruption charges. Both cases are the result of hard work by Lahav 433 and state prosecutors.

Police arrested on Monday night, July 26, a police sergeant for allegedly trying to extort money from applicants in exchange for their inclusion in the final list of those who would graduate from the training this month.
Nabbed Police Master Sgt. Edmud Delos Reyes who was arrested right in front of Camp Crame in Quezon City at around 7:30 p.m. in an entrapment conducted by agents of the Integrity Monitoring and Enforcement Group.
IMEG Director Police Brig. Gen. Flynn Dongbo said Delos Reyes is a document examiner of the PNP Health Service which is in charge of some of the examinations for police applicants.

ILOILO CITY – The new top cop of Capiz assured Friday, July 23, that he will continue the Bayanihan project in which police units build homes for the less privileged.
Police Col. Laudemer Llaneta said he will find a way to continue the home-building project of Police Col. Julio Gustilo Jr., his predecessor as Capiz Police Provincial Office (CPPO) chief.
“It is very possible and the heart for the people will be there,” Llaneta said after the turnover of command ceremony in Roxas City, the capital of Capiz. “I know about building houses. My background is civil engineering,” said Llaneta.
