Heroism of SAF 44 remembered 6 yrs after Mamasapano massacre

Of course, we are still hoping that the justice will be served. We are appealing to the President to help give justice to the deaths of our loved ones,” said Michelle Candano, wife of PO2 Windel Candano.                 PO2 Candano, PO1 Romeo Cempron and PO3 Junrel Kibete were the SAF troopers who were from Central Visayas.

Over P30 million in illegal drugs seized in first weeks of 2021 – Central Visayas police

Police Regional Office Central Visayas (PRO 7) (Facebook / MANILA BULLETIN) Data released by the Police Regional Office-Central Visayas (PRO 7) showed that from January 1 to 18, a total of 216 anti-illegal drug operations were conducted that led to the arrest of 299 individuals Seized during the different operations were 3,173.76 grams of shabu with an estimated amount of P21.5 million.  Also seized were 20,600 pieces of nubain ampoules valued at P5,150,000.  Four firearms were confiscated from illegal drug pushers, the PRO 7 said. “The PRO 7 has pledged to continuously intensify its anti-criminality campaign in Central Visayas amid the pandemic,” Police Brig. Gen. Ronnie Montejo, chief of PRO 7, said. 

14 Central Visayas cops test positive for Covid-19

January 22, 2021 FOURTEEN police officers assigned in Central Visayas were found positive for Covid-19, having undergone a swab test last week. Brigadier General Ronnie Montejo, chief of the Police Regional Office Central Visayas (PRO 7), said the 14 police officers were immediately placed in an isolation facility and are being monitored by the Regional Health Service 7. They are also tracing the 14 police officers close contacts. Montejo said the 14 police officers are asymptomatic. He believes they acquired the disease from their relatives and co-workers. We believe the mode of transmission varied from one officer to another. Some might have gotten it in the workplace, or from people they met in conferences, while some might have gotten it from the people they live with, said Montejo.

Sinulog street dance cancelled

CEBU CITY Amid growing opposition from various sectors, the Sinulog Foundation Inc. (SFI) decided not to push through with the holding of physical activities for the Sinulog Festival. Vice Mayor Michael Rama, convenor of the Sinulog Festival, on Thursday led the announcement of the cancellation of the street dancing and grand ritual showdown that was supposed to be held on January 17. The city has allocated P25 million for this year’s Sinulog Festival. In a statement that was read by executive committee member Neil Odchique, the SFI said it decided to cancel the physical activities upon the advice of City Mayor Edgardo Labella.
