LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – A barangay chairman was shot dead by a lone gunman while driving his motorcycle in Barangay Lubong, Bangued, Abra, Monday, July 19.
Information officer Capt. Marnie Abellanida of the Police Regional Office-Cordillera said the victim, Robert Villastiqui, chairman of Barangay Lubong, Bangued, was killed at 6:20 a.m.
A report from the Bangued Municipal Police Station showed that Villastiqui was driving his motorcycle to buy cigarettes when he was repeatedly shot by an unidentified man.
The victim died on the spot from several bullet wounds in the body.
The gunman, who was wearing a red long-sleeved shirt, black short pants, and bull cap, fled on foot towards Casili East, Bangued after the shooting.

+ July 02, 2021 BAGUIO CITY – The Police Regional Office Cordillera (PROCor) said two of the five suspects killed in an encounter in the early morning of June 30 who were wearing police uniforms are not members of the Philippine National Police (PNP).
Capt. Marnie Abellanida, PROCor information officer, on Thursday said verification from the PNP national headquarters shows that the identification (ID) card recovered from one of the suspects with the name Police Chief Master Sgt. Marvin A. Aquino has been listed in the roster to have died in 1996.
He said the other suspect from whom another PNP ID with the name Cesar A. Blomes is non-existent in the roster of the police organization.
