PITTSFIELD â Police are investigating a report of an armed home invasion at a Broad Street residence Friday evening.
Patrol Supervisor Sgt. Cheryl Callahan was the first officer to arrive at the scene at about 7 p.m., and saw a man wearing a mask exit an apartment, said Police Chief Michael Wynn.
Upon seeing Callahan, the masked man went back into the apartment, he said. Callahan said the resident of the apartment then exited armed with an axe. The resident told The Eagle on scene that she had the axe for self-defense.
