Concerns over insecurity in the country reached a feverish point yesterday as bandits launched another attack in Niger State.
Yesterday’s attack took place in Magami, Kokki and Kurebi communities in Gurmana ward of Shiroro Local Government Council of the state. Five persons were killed and 40 abducted in the operation, which lasted for hours. It came few hours after bandits attacked and abducted students and teachers from Government Science College, Kagara in the state. The state government released names of students, teachers, non-teaching workers as well as families members abducted during the attack on February 17. Ex-French minister sentenced to prison for rape, sexual assault

Former French Secretary of State, Georges Tron has been sentenced to five years in prison for raping and sexually assaulting a colleague.
The 63-year- old who is currently the Mayor of Draveil, was found guilty by the Paris Appeal Court late on Wednesday after originally being cleared of the charges in 2018.
Prosecution Counsel, Vincent Ollivier stated that the rape and sexual assault of one of the plaintiffs who is also his client in November 2009 and January 2010 were ‘established by the constant and detailed statements of the victim.
Oliver also said that Tron was forced to hand his resignation to Mr. Sarkozy when the rape accusations were first made public in 2011, but he consistently claimed it was all part of a plot by political enemies.

The Niger State Police Command has received 300 Special Mobile Force men to fortify efforts in rescuing the kidnapped Kagara school children, the NSTA travellers and other victims in the state.
The state Commissioner of Police CP Adamu Usman stated this when he welcomed the Operation Puff – Adder 11 in Minna.
He explained that the operation will be community-driven aimed at re- dominating and reclaiming the public space from the criminals.
The CP reassured, “We are embarking on a massive and well-planned deployment of four units of PMF and Special forces to the prone local governments of Rafi, Shiroro Munya, Bangi, Lapai/Agaie axis to consolidate on the successes and achievements of operation Puff – Adder 1launched by Inspector General of Police.”
