Deputy Commissioner Taylor said the funding boost would support the Queensland Police Service to deliver an enhanced policing service to the greater Cairns community. “This additional funding will cover the costs of essential upgrades to the station including an updated CCTV system and more refurbished spaces to support property management and forensics,” Deputy Commissioner Taylor said.

The decreased count of unique offenders in 2019-20 has resulted in the Queensland unique offender rate continuing its downward trend from a peak of 2,999 offenders per 100,000 persons in 2014-15 to 2,408 offenders in 2019-20. In addition, the number of unique offenders in 2019-20 was down 4.5 percent from the previous year.

Jon Sullivan, a politician who represented Queenslanders for more than a decade, has passed away.
