The Kano State Task Force Committee on Counterfeit, Fake Drugs and other consumables, said it has sealed a warehouse in the Bompai area of Kano metropolis with two trucks loaded with suspected fake foods.
The committee stated that the items seized were mostly juice drinks.
Speaking over the sealing of the warehouse, the committee Chairman, Dr Ghali Sule, said the discovery was made following the interception of a vehicle conveying some of the suspected food items from the warehouse.
Sule stressed the committee’s commitment to also free the state of substandard and unwholesome drugs, which posed danger to people’s health.

Kano State Task Force committee on Fake, Counterfeit Drugs and Unwholesome Foods says it has seized and destroyed fake and counterfeit drugs worth N6 billion in the past nine years.
The Chairman of the committee, Gali Sule, disclosed this during an interactive session on Saturday with the Kano state chapter of the Nigeria Union of Journalists.
According to him, since the inauguration of the committee in 2012, it has destroyed fake and counterfeit drugs in the state on about 20 different occasions.
The committee Chairman attributed the success to the hard work and commitment of its members and also other related agencies established to fight the menace.

Kano State Ministry of Health’s Task Force Committee on Fake Drugs, has confiscated suspected fake anti-malarial drugs worth over N2 million.
A statement by the Information Officer of the Ministry, Mrs Hadiza Namadi, on Saturday in Kano disclosed that the drugs were seized from the Malam Kato Motor Park.
Dr Aminu Tsanyawa, Commissioner for Health, who received the drugs from the committee chairman, Dr Ghali Sule, decried the attitude of unscrupulous persons engaged in such acts.
He said such persons were out to sabotage the efforts of government and other stakeholders in the fighting against the malaria scourge in the country.
