Kano State Task Force Committee on Sanitation, on Christmas Day, shut down two public conveniences in the State metropolis for poor sanitary conditions.

The Kano State Task Force Committee on Counterfeit, Fake Drugs and other consumables, said it has sealed a warehouse in the Bompai area of Kano metropolis with two trucks loaded with suspected fake foods.
The committee stated that the items seized were mostly juice drinks.
Speaking over the sealing of the warehouse, the committee Chairman, Dr Ghali Sule, said the discovery was made following the interception of a vehicle conveying some of the suspected food items from the warehouse.
Sule stressed the committee’s commitment to also free the state of substandard and unwholesome drugs, which posed danger to people’s health.
The Kano State Task Force Committee on fake drugs and unwholesome foods has disclosed that it seized and destroyed counterfeit drugs worth N6 billion in the past nine years.
Chairman of the committee, Gali Sule, revealed this during an interactive session on Saturday with the Kano state chapter of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ).
According to him, on about 20 different occasions since its inauguration in 2012, the committee has destroyed fake drugs in the state, noting that success was achieved through the hard work and commitment of its members, and collaborations with related agencies established to fight the menace.
He noted that the state’s ranking on the consumption of fake and substandard drugs has improved as it dropped from number one to six in a recent rating.

The Kano State Task Force Committee on Fake and Counterfeit Drugs has said since the inception of the committee in 2012, over N6 billion naira worth of fake and counterfeit drugs have been seized, stressing that it has helped in sanitizing the society, the country and Africa as a whole.
This was just as the body disclosed that “we have destroyed all the seized drugs. 20 destruction exercises of seized drugs have been held since 2012, mostly witnessed by the executive governor of the state.”
Making the assertion, the Chairman of the committee, Pharmacist Ghali Sule, in a media briefing organized by the Kano State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalist (NUJ) said Kano State used to be ranked number one in the consumption of unwholesome drugs but has now dropped to the sixth position due to hard work and commitment of the committee and other related agencies.
KANO – Kano State Task Force Committee on Counterfeit, Fake, Substandard Drugs and Unwholesome Processed Foods has on Thursday confiscated expired and counterfeit drugs worth over N1 million in the state.
It was gathered that the counterfeit drugs were confiscated from the shop of one Mr. Chinedu Adis in Muhammadu Abubakar Rimi, Sabon Gari market.
The Permanent Secretary, Kano State Ministry of Health, Haj. Amina A. Musa while receiving the seized goods from the Taskforce vowed to stamp out the menace of drug abuse and circulation of fake drugs and unwholesome processed food items in the state.
In a statement by the Ministry’s Public Relations Officer, Hadiza Namadi, said the Permanent Secretary commended the taskforce committee under the leadership, Pharm. Gali Sule, of their untiring efforts.
