Date Time Police investigate suspicious fire – Hunter Valley An investigation is underway after two buildings were destroyed by fire in the Hunter Valley overnight. About 10.20pm yesterday (Friday 4 June 2021), emergency services responded to reports of a fire on a property in Morpeth Road, Morpeth. Officers attached to Port Stephens-Hunter Police District attended and established a crime scene; the blaze was extinguished by NSW Fire and Rescue. Two buildings on the property were destroyed in the fire, while another was badly damaged. All buildings were unoccupied at the time. At this stage the cause of the fire is unknown; however, it is being treated as suspicious.

Police are appealing for public assistance after a man was injured in a home invasion near Maitland. About 7.30pm yesterday, a man and woman were inside a house on O’Hearn Street, Tenambit, when a man wearing a balaclava forced entry through the rear door. The intruder demanded money before physically assaulting a 48-year-old man on numerous occasions. The woman called police and the man fled the house, she was uninjured. The 48-year-old man was taken to Maitland Hospital with non life-threatening injuries. Officers attached to Port Stephens-Hunter Police District attended and commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Date Time Police seek information after home invasions across Hunter Police are appealing for public assistance following two home invasions in the Port Stephens and Lake Macquarie regions. About 4.15am on Tuesday 23 March 2021, three men allegedly forced entry to a home at Lemon Tree Passage, and seriously assaulted a man. The men were armed with a hammer and a knife. In the second incident, about 2pm on Thursday 25 March 2021, two men allegedly forced entry to a home at Kahibah and seriously assaulted a man. The men were armed with a pole and bat. Detectives attached to Port Stephens-Hunter Police District are conducting investigations into links between both incidents.
