PM Matsya Sampada Yojana: Govt Sets Outlay Of Rs 3,500 Crore For Development Of Fishing Harbours, Landing Centres

The duration kept for the work is till year 2025, Giriraj Singh, Minister of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, informed the Parliament on Tuesday. The Department of Fisheries, Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Government of India under Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY) envisages substantial investments to the tune of Rs 3490 crore for development of fishing harbours and fish landing centres during the period of five years from 2020-21 to 2024-25, the Minister responded to a query.

It can be seen as an indicator for significant improvement in the country’s port management infrastructure. Turnaround time is the time a ship spends entering, unloading, loading and exiting the port. According to the Economic Survey 2020-21, the average turnaround time for ships at the country’s major ports fell from 4 days in 2014-15 to 2.59 days in 2019-20.
