Mosque attack victim pleads guilty to sexual activity with 14-year-old girl

Several days after their first meeting they met up again at the home of one of the girl’s friends. The teenager got into Yesuf’s car and the pair drove to Victoria Park in the Port Hills. Once parked they engaged in sexual activity. Afterwards Yesuf bought alcohol for her and her friends. Yesuf originally faced a number of sexual assault charges and was set to go on trial, but that did not come about. All the other charges he faced were dismissed on Tuesday. Yesuf was remanded on continued bail until October for sentencing. Stuff has previously reported on Yesuf’s continued health struggles after being shot in the back at the An-Nur (Al Noor) mosque on March 15, 2019.

Feral deer culled from Christchurch parks for the first time in eight years

Stuff Fifteen signs were placed around Victoria Park warning it would be closed due to a deer cull overnight Friday and into Saturday morning. “This has effectively reduced the deer population in Bowenvale and Victoria Park to near zero,” council head of parks Andrew Rutledge said. Deer carcasses would be removed from the site following the operation where possible. Rutledge said there was no danger to the public during the cull. “Additional safety mechanisms such as using thermal image scopes and night vision equipment means that 100 per cent accuracy of identification can be made.” Rangers would continue to monitor the area for the presence of deer.
