Impaired driver hits State trooper vehicle in Port Orchard By Associated Press Share: PORT ORCHARD A driver was arrested after rear-ending a Washington State Patrol vehicle early Sunday morning on Highway 16 near Tremont Street in Port Orchard. A 41-year-old male was arrested on suspicion of impairment after striking the state trooper’s car while traveling westbound on Highway 16 just before 12:30 a.m., the Kitsap Sun reported. The trooper’s vehicle was parked and the lights were flashing while the trooper cleared debris from the road, according to a tweet by Washington State Trooper Chelsea Hodgson. The state trooper was not injured. The driver of the other vehicle, a Mitsubishi Lanser, sustained minor injuries and was transported to Saint Michael Medical Center in Silverdale.

Man accused of groping UPS driver, exposing himself to woman Andrew Binion, Kitsap Sun A Port Orchard man accused in 2019 of raping two women charges that were dropped is now accused of groping a UPS driver and exposing himself to a woman after walking into her house. On Thursday, Neil David Chess, 39, pleaded not guilty in Kitsap County Superior Court to a count of residential burglary and a count of fourth-degree assault. Prosecutors added a “special allegation” of sexual motivation to both counts. Family members who in recent years filed protection orders against Chess wrote in court documents that Chess is mentally ill, has assaulted them and has made violent threats. Further, one wrote that he had struggled to obtain help for Chess.

83-year-old Allyn man killed in head-on collision near Shelton Christian Vosler, Kitsap Sun © stock photo sirens SHELTON One man was killed in a head-on vehicle collision Friday near Shelton, according to the Washington State Patrol.  WSP identified the man who died as Curtis L. Jones, 83, of Allyn.  The crash occurred on Highway 3 east of Shelton near the Shelton Yacht Club just after 1:40 p.m., according to a WSP memo.  According to the memo, a 62-year-old Port Orchard man driving southbound on Highway 3 suffered a medical event, crossed the center line and struck Jones vehicle head-on. Jones, who was a passenger in the vehicle, was taken to St. Peter s Hospital in Olympia where he later died, according to WSP.
