PORTAGE, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Even though his base salary didn’t increase, the Portage Public Schools Board of Education voted this week to extend Superintendent Mark Bielangâs contract and increase his tax-sheltered annuity.
The vote came after a âhighly effectiveâ rating from the board at a meeting in June.
Bielangâs tax-sheltered annuity was increased from $48,674 to $52,915, based upon a 2.16% increase to the value of his base salary. The superintendentâs base salary did not increase and hasnât since he began at the helm in 2012. Bielangâs annual salary is $195,000.
