New food bank plea is made by church supporters

Tottington Methodist Church PIC: Google Maps AN appeal has been issued for tinned and dry goods by Tottington Methodist Church and Tottington Centre for a food bank. Churchgoers are staging their third collection for Porch Boxes on Saturday, April 24, at the centre s car park from 10am to 11am. Tinned meats, spaghetti, chilli, tuna hot dogs and beans, along with tinned fruit, biscuits, teabags, UHT semi-skimmed and full fat milk, and packets of noodles and rice are among the items being sought. Before now two previous collections, over harvest-time and Christmas, for Porch Boxes have seen supporters generate a large number of donations for the cause.

Prime Minister pledges support for Bury s bid for new Radcliffe high school

Bury South MP Christian Wakeford PRIME Minister, Boris Johnson, has pledged his support for a new free school in Radcliffe. Bury South MP, Christian Wakeford, has been behind the campaign for the school and on Wednesday at Prime Minister’s Questions took the opportunity to ask Mr Johnson to back the campaign. Speaking in the House of Commons, Christian thanked the Prime Minister in reaffirming his commitment to levelling up the nation and plans for local education. He said: “The town of Radcliffe in my constituency has been without a high school since 2014. “A new school would not only improve educational attainment for the town’s children but trigger the town’s regeneration.
