A DRIVER who was caught out on Bank Holiday Monday has issued a warning to others thinking of parking without a permit in the town during the festive season. The 25-year-old, who did not wish to be named, was slapped with a £70 fine by council wardens for parking in Portsmouth Street, off Fleming Way, this week. He thought Sunday rules applied in the residential area given it was a bank holiday and the fact other cars did not appear to be displaying on-street permits. “I presume other people are in the same situation who think that bank holiday is free parking in a residential area,” he said.
