“The shock of hearing Pete was killed, and in a horribly, painful manner, will never leave me,” Ron Winkelaar said.
“I feel the profound sadness and emptiness that all parents must feel when their child passes away before them. It does not fit into our expectation of life.”
One of Winkelaar’s brothers, Matthew, said he lost more than a sibling in the crash.
