Pedestrian suffers serious injuries in Cambridge crash

  KITCHENER Waterloo regional police are investigating a collision in Cambridge that sent a pedestrian to hospital with serious injuries. Officers were called to the intersection of Water Street South and Dando Avenue around 2:45 p.m. Sunday. According to officials, a vehicle driven by a 57-year-old Cambridge man was traveling north on Water Street South when it failed to stop for a red light at Dando Avenue. The driver struck a 27-year-old Cambridge woman who was crossing the street at the crosswalk. She was taken to an out-of-region hospital with serious injuries. Officials say the investigation is ongoing and charges are pending.

Saskatchewan RCMP officer arrested in death of man in wooded area

UPDATE: Case of Saskatchewan Mountie charged with 1st-degree murder put over (UPDATE: May 13 @ 11:35 am): The court case of a Saskatchewan Mountie accused of killing a 26−year−old man has been put over until later this month. Cpl. Bernie Herman was charged with first−degree murder after police found a man’s body in a wooded area in Prince Albert. The officer was serving with the Prince Albert Traffic Services Unit at the time of his arrest. Police say the dead man, Braden Herman from Clearwater River Dene Nation, knew the officer but was not related to him. The case is to go before the court again on May 26.

Sask RCMP officer makes first court appearance on murder charge

(paNOW file photo) With his face covered by a medical mask, and wearing a polo shirt and blue jeans, a Prince Albert RCMP officer stood with his arms behind his back Thursday and simply nodded his head when a judge asked if he understood the charge he was facing. Bernie Herman, who turned 53 on Thursday, is facing a charge of first-degree murder in the death Tuesday evening of 26-year-old Braden Herman. Braden’s body was found in a wooded area within city limits. Herman, who has acquired the services of Saskatoon lawyer Brad Mitchell, was remanded into custody and is scheduled to make his next court appearance May 26. He will appear at that time either by phone or by video from the correctional centre where he is being housed.
