Mayor Brian Blad announced at a Wednesday afternoon news conference that masks will be required inside of all city facilities and vehicles, including the Pocatello Regional Transit buses and the Pocatello Regional Airport. The announcement comes as vaccination rates slow and cases of the COVID-19 climb, leading to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention designation of Bannock County as a “county of substantial community transmission,” according to Blad. “I’ve made this decision in light of the new guidance from the CDC, and in consultation with our local experts and Southeast Idaho Public Health,” the mayor said.

Pocatello lifts face-covering policy at city facilities POCATELLO, Idaho (KIFI) - Pocatello Mayor Brian Blad is changing the face covering policy at city facilities. Effective Monday, May 24, individuals who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 may enter city facilities without a face covering. Proof of vaccination is not required and will not be requested, but individuals are asked to be responsible and respectful. Individuals who are not fully vaccinated against COVID-19 are asked and still strongly encouraged to wear face coverings at City facilities. “Thank you to everyone who has complied with the policy over the last ten months,” said Mayor Blad. “ If you haven’t already, please do your part and get vaccinated against COVID-19.”

POCATELLO – At a special meeting Monday, the Pocatello City Council voted to rescind the City’s face covering ordinance effective Wednesday, April 28. Additionally, Councilmembers approved a motion to call a special meeting to consider reimplementing a face-covering ordinance if active cases rise to 15 or more per 10,000 for 14 consecutive days or 30 or more per 10,000 for 3 consecutive days. Per city policy, masks are still required for city employees and for citizens who enter city facilities and participate in programs and activities. Citizens are required to wear face coverings when entering any city of Pocatello building or facility or riding in public transportation buses. Citizens participating in city-sponsored programs or activities in outdoor spaces do not have to wear a face-covering unless six feet of physical distancing
