“Know that you deserve to be proud of what you have already done and celebrate that.”
-Taylor Tutkaluke
Have you left a positive mark on your community on or off campus? There may be a global pandemic going on, but we still want to recognize the outstanding contributions students like you have made! The University of Manitoba’s Emerging Leader Award recognizes students who are committed to the social, cultural or economic well-being of our community. While your efforts may have looked different this year, students who foster cross-cultural understanding, or demonstrate sustained leadership and initiative are encouraged to apply. Past recipients have been involved in a range of activities like being a peer mentor, creating and organizing events, and participating on student council.

Editor’s note: The following is a press release from the City of Bloomington. Bloom has republished it here with edits for style and clarity.
Bloomington Mayor John Hamilton has announced that Deputy Mayor Mick Renneisen plans to retire from his position on April 23 after four decades of service to the City of Bloomington and the community. Mayor Hamilton appointed Renneisen as deputy mayor in January 2016, when Renneisen was serving as administrator of the City of Bloomington Parks and Recreation Department.
“After 40 years of public service, it’s time for me to retire and spend more time with my family,” says Renneisen. “When I started as the Parks and Recreation Department’s Sports Coordinator on April 20, 1981, I never imagined that I would work for the City of Bloomington for 40 years. I’m fortunate to have served our community in various roles during the tenures of four mayors over the course of four decades.”

TEMPLE, TX â Driving on residential streets in Temple on Friday, youâll see plenty of piles of sticks, branches and broken limbs.
Itâs all leftover from the winter storm just the day before.
One of those piles belongs to the Simons, a Temple family who heard something fall off of their roof Thursday evening.
At first, they thought it was snow or ice. Come to find out, they were wrong.
âI see this big tree laying over our porch and on the sidewalk,â Cody Simons, the homeowner explained. âWith all the weight of the tree limbs; that s pretty much what happens this time of year.â
Naya Rivera’s role in the YouTube-to-Starz Step Up TV series.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Rivera starred in the role of “Collette,” during the first two seasons of the series, based on the movies of the same name. Rivera’s family is said to have given their blessing to the recasting.
Rivera was found dead in July, nearly a week after she disappeared during a boating outing in Ventura County, California, with her son, Josey. She was 33.
We previously reported… according to the investigative report, Josey said they counted “1, 2, 3” and jumped off the pontoon boat together at Lake Piru in Ventura County, California. Once in the water, the child said his mother told him to get back on the boat.

As he filmed the incident the 26 year old from Gosport, Hampshire, can be heard exclaiming: Look what he s done to my car!
Mr Cowlinshaw compared the ponies behaviour to that of seagulls.
Describing what happened, he said: I had met up with my ex at the car park to swap our kid from car to car. As I was putting him in the seat the pony smelt the baby food in my car.
The horse caused several hundred pounds of damage to the car, denting the bonnet and smashing the wing mirror I was trying to get the pony to go away for around 15 minutes - but it started trying to bite me.
