Wednesday, May 19th at 8:30 a.m., Town Offices and the Department of Public Works will be open to the public for in-person business according to its regular schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Staff continue to be available via phone and email and we continue to encourage the public to take advantage of our remote service options whenever possible. Many functions can be performed remotely, both quickly and easily, without coming to the office. Please contact the specific department with questions about remote services. Cindi King has joined the town of Southern Pines, heading up its recreation and parks department. She replaces previous director, Robert Reeve, who retired in December 2020.
King previously served as recreation manager for Wake Forest where she oversaw the opening of the townâs 32,000 square-foot community center at Joyner Park in 2019. She managed that facility until her departure, overseeing programming, staff, and maintenance.
Prior to Wake Forest, King spent over 16 years with the town of Cary, where she last served as a Senior Operations & Programs Supervisor. She also worked previously for the cities of Raleigh and Roanoke Rapids, and in South Carolina with Aiken Technical College and Lexington County Parks and Recreation.

BRATTLEBORO â The townâs Recreation & Parks Department is offering new sessions of chess, gymnastics and fencing classes for area youth.
Youth ChessA session of four chess classes will be offered March 19 to May 7. Classes are $40 for Brattleboro residents and $55 for non-residents. All classes will be over Zoom.
Intermediate classes will take place on Fridays from 3:15 to 4:15 p.m.; these players must know basic checkmate and a few tactics and strategies. Advanced classes will be on Fridays from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. and players must have completed the intermediate level. Eric Strickland is the instructor.

HENRICO Co., Va. (WWBT) - Henrico police are investigating a string of larcenies after four vehicles were broken into at a county park in broad daylight.
Just before 4:30 p.m. Sunday, officers responded to a parking lot in Deep Run Park for reports of larcenies.
Upon arrival, officers met with several victims who said personal items were stolen from their vehicles. Investigators said two vehicles had windows broken and two were left unlocked.
