A Tri-Valley man was taken into custody early Saturday morning after allegedly leading Pleasanton police on a chase that ended when his van caught fire shortly after driving over a spike strip in San Ramon.

The arrestee a 60-year-old man from Pleasanton eventually surrendered with his vehicle engulfed in flames and a Pleasanton police K-9 unit on scene to help with the apprehension, according to San Ramon police Lt. Tami Williams.
The incident crossed into the San Ramon city limits just before 2 a.m. Saturday, with the Pleasanton Police Department requesting assistance with a pursuit of a vehicle entering San Ramon police s jurisdiction, according to Williams.

A motorcyclist was cited for going 140-mph on hwy.24 this week, according to the California Highway Patrol.
A person who drives a vehicle upon a highway at a speed greater than 100-mph is guilty of an infraction, which is punishable, as follows:
Upon a first conviction of a violation of this subdivision, by a fine of not to exceed five hundred dollars ($500). The court may also suspend the privilege of the person to operate a motor vehicle for a period not to exceed 30 days pursuant to Section 13200.5.
Upon a conviction under this subdivision of an offense that occurred within three years of a prior offense resulting in a conviction of an offense under this subdivision, by a fine of not to exceed seven hundred fifty dollars ($750). The person’s privilege to operate a motor vehicle shall be suspended by the Department of Motor Vehicles pursuant to subdivision (a) of Section 13355.
Various Bay Area cities will be kicking off Pride Month next week with flag raising ceremonies the morning of June 1. Other municipalities will follow suit on subsequent days of the month.
San Ramon police investigating fatal crash prompting closures on Crow Canyon Road

SAN RAMON, Calif. - A fatal crash in San Ramon has prompted police to close off both directions of Crow Canyon Road near Bollinger Canyon Road as officers investigate the incident.
According to a Tweet at 1:03 p.m., police say Westbound Crow Canyon is closed at Porter Dr, Eastbound Crow Canyon is closed at Norris Canyon, Southbound Bollinger Canyon is closed at Deerwood Dr and Northbound Bollinger Canyon is closed at Creekside Drive.
Police have asked the public to avoid the area for the time being.
