Kailey Dozier said she loves Goldsmith-Shiffman Elementary school, so making the decision to send her son to private school wasn t an easy one.
Some Huntsville City Schools parents are looking at another option for their child s education, following the school board s decision to make masks mandatory for those 2-years-old and up. My kid is so nervous about going to school anyways. We’re going to a big school. There are about 1,000 kids at Goldsmith and it’s a wonderful school, but then you add in the mask and he’s just a nervous wreck, said Dozier.

HUNTSVILLE, Ala Goldsmith Schiffman Elementary School fifth grader, Kaylei Selko, won first place in the Alabama Arbor Day Poster Contest.
On Tuesday, Operation Green Team surprised Kaylei with balloons, money, and other prizes for winning first place.
Kaylei says she loves to draw and was excited to enter in the contest but didn t expect to win.
She says her artwork was inspired by different cities. Of course, the Saturn V rocket that sits at the Space & Rocket Center made it into her piece.

HUNTSVILLE, Alabama Seven Huntsville City Schools teachers have completed the process to become National Board Certified Teachers, the district announced on Thursday.
According to the district, the certification is designed to develop, retain and recognize accomplished teachers and generate improvement in schools across the nation.
The following educators are Huntsville City School s latest National Board Certified Teachers:
Molly Johnson at Farley Elementary
Christie O Connor at Weatherly Elementary School
Lorinda Otto at Huntsville High School
Lori Rhonemus at Goldsmith Schiffman Elementary School
Kristin Robinson at Mountain Gap Middle School
Ashleigh Yocom at Challenger Elementary School
With the addition of these seven, Huntsville City Schools now has more than 50 National Board Certified Teachers throughout the district with 40 more educators working towards the certification.
