Dubai: Dubai Public Prosecution has referred a man to the criminal court for allegedly obtaining Dh44,600 from a government entity illegally, an official said on Thursday.
Senior Chief Prosecutor Salem Bin Khadem, at Public Funds Prosecution, said the accused, who worked as Public Relations Officer (PRO) for a public entity, used to follow up on the entity’s transactions with various government departments. The accused used to receive the money to complete the transactions and submit the receipts to the account department.
“He was working in the entity for eight months before the case was discovered. He was given Dh44,600 by the finance department but didn’t present the receipts of the transactions,” Prosecutor Bin Khadim said.

The Public Funds Prosecution in Dubai referred a public relation (PR) officer to Criminal Court on embezzlement charges, after he misappropriated funds of around Dhs44,600 from a public institution where he was working.
Counselor Salem Ahmed Bin Khadem, Senior Chief Prosecutor at Public Funds Prosecution, who initiated the investigation into the case, said that as per the prosecution investigation, it revealed that the accused was working as PR officer in a company belonging to a public institution in Dubai.
His nature of work as a PRO was to carry out the company transactions with various government departments, receive money from the company to complete those transactions and submit transaction receipts to the accounts department.

Counsellor Salem Ahmed bin Khadem, senior chief prosecutor at Public Funds Prosecution, who initiated the investigation into the case, said that as per the prosecution’s investigation, the PRO worked for a public institution in Dubai. His role involved carrying out company transactions with various government departments, receiving funds from the company to complete those transactions, and submitting the transaction receipts to the accounts department.
