Care home speculation addressed by director of Public Health for Nottinghamshire as Newark and Sherwood sees rise in coronavirus cases
| Updated: 13:42, 19 February 2021
Outbreaks in care homes are not responsible for the rise in coronavirus cases in Newark and Sherwood, says a public health expert.
The district has seen a rise of 300 new coronavirus cases in the last seven days, which equates to 245.1 cases per 100,000.
Newark and Sherwood sits above the country-wide average of 131.8 per 100,00 and above the county-wide average of 217.5 per 100,000.

Addressing speculation that the increase in cases was because of an outbreak in one of the district s care homes, health expert Jonathan Gribbin said there was no single setting causing the spike.
