Balance has relaunched its Alcohol - Not the Answer campaign NEARLY half of the people in the region who drank more alcohol in the last year feel worse as a result, according to research by Balance. A survey of more 600 people in the North-East and North Cumbria showed that most of those who drank more in a bid to feel better about 2020 found it was not the answer and complained about hangovers, tiredness and low mood. One in five drinkers said there had been more arguments and tension in their family during the pandemic because of alcohol. And Balance, the region s alcohol office, said drinking most days can weaken our immune system against infectious diseases like Covid and increase anxiety, depression and the risk of cancer, heart attack and stroke.
