CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas â Naval Air Station-Corpus Christi is once again requiring masks on their premises regardless of vaccination status, as the delta variant continues to spread throughout the nation.
The new guidance comes straight from the Department of Defense, who updated their guidance on Wednesday, stating that in areas of high community transmission, all Service members, Federal employees, onsite contractor employees, and visitors [are required] to wear a mask in an indoor setting in installations and other facilities owned, leased or otherwise controlled by DoD.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas â With COVID-19 cases once again surging in the Coastal Bend, Corpus Christi, Nueces County, and local hospitals held a briefing Wednesday to update the public and urge them to get vaccinated.
âItâs as if the virus is fighting us back, Nueces County Judge Barbara Canales said. And we know that todayâs vaccines work against this crazy mutation that is known as the Delta variant.â
The Delta variant is a mutation of the original coronavirus strain and is responsible for increases in hospitalizations and deaths across the country and here locally.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas â Local leaders are considering several measures in hopes of ensuring that everyone who wants a COVID-19 vaccine gets one.
That includes possibly creating a shuttle service to take people who aren t able to drive themselves to clinics that offer the shot.
âWeâre trying to figure out how we can do it how we can address this part of our community, Mayor Paulette Guajardo said. Because there definitely is (a population of homebound residents), and weâve heard their voices.â

It s that second comment, and others like it, that have some people concerned that a large percent of the population won t get vaccinated once the shots become widely available.
