Cracking the whip against dissenting party leaders, the Trinamool Congress on Friday expelled Baishali Dalmiya, MLA from the Bally Assembly constituency in Howrah district and daughter of well-known cricket administrator Jagmohan Dalmiya.
Reacting to the development, Ms. Dalmiya said the party will have to specify what anti-party activities she has been accused of. The MLA said she was spared the task of tendering her resignation and would expose the TMC’s corruption.

Kolkata: A day before Prime Minister Narendra Modi s brief Kolkata visit, West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee received yet another blow as one more rebel Trinamul Congress minister, Rajib Banerjee, quit her government, fuelling speculation of his defection to the BJP.
Within hours of Rajib s move, the TMC expelled his loyalist and the daughter of former ICC chief Jagmohan Dalmiya, Baishali Dalmiya, from the party, accusing her of anti-party activities after she supported him and slammed the party leadership. Rajib and Dalmiya are MLAs from Howrah district.

New Delhi, Jan 20: Desertions and dissidence continued to afflict the ruling Trinamool Congress, with another MLA joining the BJP on Wednesday while another elected representative publicly aired his grievances.

Arindam Bhattacharya, the MLA of Santipur in Nadia district, met the BJP s national general secretary and Bengal minder Kailash Vijayvargiya in New Delhi and joined the saffron camp at the party s national headquarters.
Bhattacharya had won the assembly election on a Congress ticket in 2016 and switched over to the TMC the next year.
Bhattacharya is the legislator of Santipur constituency in West Bengal s Nadia district.
