How volunteers are combatting COVID-19
More than 100 volunteers across Cumberland City took part in an online educational project to help equip their organisations with skills to deal with COVID-19.
Funded $20,000 from Cumberland City Council’s community grants, non-profit organisation House to Grow, produced the online workshops from January 2020 to February 2021 to promote intercultural understanding, self-awareness, self-regulation and capacity-building among 109 volunteers from 21 organisations.
Mayor Steve Christou said the community grants supported groups and individuals to develop a more vibrant, sustainable and inclusive Cumberland community.
“It’s great to be able to provide funding to organisations which help volunteers combat the challenges this pandemic poses.
