March 17, 2011: Klaus Kleinfeld, chairman and CEO of Alcoa Inc., will visit Massena Friday to celebrate the reopening of the companyâs Massena East operations. U.S. Sen. Charles E. Schumer will be among those in attendance to welcome Mr. Kleinfeld. This will be the first Massena visit for Mr. Kleinfeld, who elects to visit several plants around the world each year.

March 17, 1996: The former Kmart store on Washington Street, Watertown, will become Samaritan Wellness Center if Samaritan Medical Center follows through on an option to buy the vacant site. Samaritan officials are looking to the 70,000-square-foot building and large lot as a possible solution to space problems at the hospitalâs main campus, which is about a mile north on Washington Street. The space crunch has resulted in jammed parking lots and shuffling of programs during a time of rapid expansion.

THERESA, N.Y. (WWNY) - Marion O. Bartlett, 96, longtime resident of the village, passed away, Tuesday, January 19, 2021 at Carthage Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing, Carthage, NY, where she had been for the past six years.
Born on February 19, 1924 in Theresa, NY, she was a daughter of Clarence and Gladys House Ritter. She attended a country school on the Oxbow Rd. and graduated from Antwerp High School in 1941.
Pfc. Dennin missing The story of the 106th infantry’s baptism of fire will live long in the minds of the men who withstood that steel and flame thrown at them during the Battle of the Belgian Bulge. Pvt. Fred Dennin, son of postmaster and Mrs. Dennin of Lake Placid, was reported missing in that engagement and was a member of the 423rd Regiment, which stood side by side with the 422nd and fought “till the end” to halt Von Runstedt’s Nazi armies which crashed across the Belgium border on the night of Dec. 16, 1944. According to reports reaching here, the two regiments had just been put up “at the front.” They were fresh and rarin’ to go, but had been instructed that it was a defensive sector, that their job was not to attack but to defend.
