Wistron s statement comes after the Karnataka Labour Department too flagged violations at Wistron. It found that it did not maintain up to date salary and attendance records, no proper employment details were maintained and workers were asked to do 12-hour shifts.
Wistron had committed to invest Rs 2,850 crore in Kolar plant and increase its total headcount to 18,000. It currently employs over 10,000 people. Investments include manufacturing beyond smartphones to IoT products and biotech devices.

Apple has placed its supplier Wistron on probation after it found that the Taiwanese manufacturer violated its supplier code of conduct at its facility in India. Apple employees and independent auditors hired by Apple have been working around the clock to investigate the issues which occurred at Wistron’s Narasapura facility. While these investigations are ongoing, our preliminary findings indicate violations of our Supplier Code of Conduct by failing to implement proper working hour management processes. This led to payment delays for some workers in October and November, a statement from Apple said.
