Ware selectboard meeting tonight with Baystate to discuss planned closure of Mary Lane Outpatient Center postponed

WARE – The selectboard meeting scheduled for Tuesday night to discuss with Baystate Health’s Eastern Regional President Molly Gray the organization’s plans to close Baystate Mary Lane Outpatient Center has been canceled.
In a brief email statement Tuesday Morning, Ware Town Manager Stuart Beckley wrote: “Tonight’s Select Board meeting has been postponed.”
No other details were provided in the statement.
“We are going to reschedule it; we don’t know when yet,” Ware selectboard chairman Alan Whitney said.

Holyoke Board of Health seeks wider COVID-19 vaccine distribution

HOLYOKE The Board of Health is continuing to explore ways to set up a COVID-19 vaccination site, though logistics, trained staff, and access to the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines remain obstacles.
Board of Health Director Sean Gonsalves said at a meeting on Monday the Lincoln and Northampton Streets Stop and Shops plan to open a public vaccination site. He added an announcement from the supermarket chain is pending.
A vaccination center opened at Baystate Health on Whitney Avenue. The Holyoke Health Center is running into a supply problem in accessing the vaccines, according to Gonsalves.
These Massachusetts COVID-19 testing, vaccine sites are closing early due to storm

COVID-19 testing and vaccination sites across Massachusetts plan to close early as an intense nor’easter moves into the state.
The storm is expected to pile 5 to 17 inches of snow over Massachusetts between Monday and Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service. Some parts of the state, particularly in northern Worcester County and Berkshire County, could see as much as 18 inches of snow.
The storm also threatens to throw another wrench in the state’s COVID-19 vaccine rollout, which has lagged behind operations in other states.
Baystate Health to discuss Mary Lane closure with Ware officials; virtual community meeting set

WARE Town officials are slated to learn more Tuesday evening about the planned closing of Baystate Mary Lane Outpatient Center.
The Selectboard and Town Manager Stuart Beckley will meet with Molly Gray, president and chief administrative officer of Baystate Health Eastern Region.
In addition, Baystate Health has announced plans for a virtual community meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 23 at 5 p.m. to discuss the closure and future plans for patient care. To register, visit baystatehealth.org/EasternRegion.
Baystate Health revealed on Jan. 26 it will phase out Mary Lane Outpatient Center within two years, and relocating a majority of its services to Baystate Wing Hospital in Palmer.
