(Jim Russell photo) Facebook Share WARE Baystate Health confirmed this week it will close the wound care unit at Baystate Mary Lane Outpatient Center less than two years after it opened. The Springfield-based health care provider said the decision to close the unit on Jan. 31 was “due to lack of demand” at the Ware facility. “Baystate Mary Lane has decided not to renew its vendor relationship with Healogic Wound Care due to lack of demand for hyperbaric chambers,” the provider said in a statement.

Making News in Business Single-family home sales, prices climb in December The median sale price of single-family homes in Hampshire County climbed to $301,555 in 2020, up 7.7% from 2019, when the median price was $275,000, according to figures released this week by the Warren Group, a Boston firm that tracks real estate sales. The number of homes sold in Hampshire County also rose, but only by about 0.5%, to 1,382 in 2020 compared to 1,374 the year before. Sales surged in December, however, jumping 36% to 150 from 110 homes sold in December 2019, the Warren Group reported. Statewide, there were 61,469 single-family home sales in 2020 a 3.9% increase from 2019 when there were 59,178 transactions. Meanwhile, the median single-family sale price hit $445,500 an 11.4% increase on the same basis.
