The last time Baylor entrepreneurship WASN’T among the nation’s top 10 programs, today’s freshmen had barely started elementary school.
Yes, for the 12th straight year, Baylor’s undergraduate entrepreneurship program is a consensus top-10 national pick in the field. It’s ranked No. 7 in the country by The Princeton Review and
U.S. News.
“We have a dozen or so professors who all they do is teach entrepreneurship, do research on entrepreneurship, so we really have a strong core area of faculty, staff and students who are dedicated,” department chair Peter Klein told the
Can you believe it? Joy, the elder of our two beloved American black bears, is celebrating her 20th birthday today!
Joy officially Judge Joy Reynolds was born on Jan. 27, 2001; her sister, Judge Sue Sloan (“Lady”), was born a year and four days later (Jan. 31, 2002), and so turns 19 later this week. The bears came to the Baylor campus two decades ago from a private Oregon ranch when they were each about four months old. At that age, taking care of the bears was much like taking care of any baby minus the milk guzzling and 30-pound weight. Their Chamber-member trainers learned what life was like as single parents for the few months the bears needed constant attention. While most Baylor students were wrapping up finals and planning their Christmas break last month, two Bears were earning major national awards for their academic accomplishments.
Sophia Fulton, a senior in the Business Fellows program at Baylor, was awarded the Charles B. Rangel Graduate Fellowship. Endowed by the U.S. Department of State, this highly competitive national award supports top students pursuing a career in foreign service, funding two years of graduate study and two internships one in Congress, and one at an embassy or consulate abroad. Fulton is the second Baylor student in the last two years to receive this award.

There’s still a lot we don’t know about COVID-19, but one thing we
do know is that frequent testing is essential in helping limit the spread of the virus. Testing identifies even presymptomatic and asymptomatic individuals, thus interrupting the spread. Part of what helped Baylor make it through last semester in-person was the ability to consistently provide COVID-19 tests and timely results. (The American College Health Association has taken note of how this worked at BU and other schools last fall, and included more frequent testing among its recommendations for Spring 2021 released in late December.)
