Four wounded in shootings
Four people, including two women, were wounded in separate incidents of firing in the metropolis on Sunday.
Baghdadi police said 26-year-old Arsalan, son of Mushtaq, was wounded when he resisted a mugging bid in Lyari’s Shah Baig Lane.
The casualty was taken to the Civil Hospital Karachi for medical treatment. A case has been registered, and an investigation is underway.
Separately, 12-year-old Huma, daughter of Tahir, was injured when a stray bullet hit her in the limits of the Quaidabad police station. She was taken to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre.
In another incident, a 15-year-old boy, Saifur Rehman, son of Asghar, was suffered a bullet injury during aerial firing at a wedding ceremony in Darwesh Colony the within Ferozabad police limits. He was taken to the JPMC for medical treatment.

Sindh AIG Ghulam Nabi Memon constituted a special investigation team on Thursday to probe the murder of Zain Effendi, descendant of the Sindh Madrassahtul Islam University’s founder Hassanally Effendi, a day prior. A case was also lodged against unidentified suspects on the complaint of the deceased’s wife.
East SSP Sajid Sadozai is to lead the investigation team, which comprises of Jamshed Division SP Farooq Bajarani, Darakshan SDPO Zahid Hussain, Ferozabad SHO Aurangzaib Khattak, Jamshed Quarters SHO Chaudhry Zahid Hussain and Jamshed Quarters SIO Imtiaz Ahmed.

A local court acquitted on Wednesday Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan’s (MQM-P’s) Lines Area sector in-charge Ali Hassan Zaidi in a case pertaining to attack on a local leader of the Awami National Party.
An additional district and sessions judge was hearing the plea challenging the accusations against the MQM-P member at City Court Karachi.
At the hearing, the prosecution failed to prove accusations against Zaidi.
Hence, the court acquitted Zaidi on the basis a lack of evidence.
The court also directed the police to release Zaidi immediately, provided that he was not accused in any other case.
60 phones snatched a day in city

As many as 60 people on average were robbed of their mobile phones in the metropolis each day this year.
The Citizen-Police Liaison Committee s crime statistics for 2020 show that 20,054 mobile phones were snatched in Karachi over the past 11 months.
The highest number of snatchings occurred in September with 2,510 mobile phones snatched. October saw 2,180 mobiles snatched, July 2,127, August 2,045, January 1,939, June 1,899, February 1,846, November 1,843, May 1,438 and March 1,381. April saw the least number of snatchings, with 846 mobile phones stolen.
