Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary to move to Gwynedd Mercy University

LOWER MERION — Gwynedd Mercy University and Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary recently signed an agreement of sale that will allow the Seminary to relocate from Wynnewood to Gwynedd Mercy University s campus. The sale, which will not be finalized until the end of a separate due diligence and approval period, includes approximately 15 acres of space on the northern border of Gwynedd Mercy University’s campus as well as two existing buildings. Both institutions expressed their gratitude to the Maguire Foundation for a generous $3 million gift to Gwynedd Mercy University that will be supplemental to the $10 million purchase price by the seminary. “The Saint Charles Seminary community is thrilled to have found such a wonderful new home, and grateful for the generous support of The Maguire Foundation in making this transaction possible,” said Bishop Timothy C. Church charities bank on generosity following donation shortfall

Church organisations left in the lurch by six-figure shortfalls in donations this week are hoping to make up some of the damage on Sunday, when the Church celebrates its yearly Charity Day. Dar tal-Providenza and Caritas were among charities affected by a technical error at telecoms provider GO that resulted in €1.4 million in donations being double-counted. The error means donations to affected organisations made during TV fundraisers in late 2020 are hundreds of thousands of euro lower than originally expected. Affected organisations were informed of the technical error in February but the mistake was only made public this week. In a statement, the Church had said that affected organisations’ work for the upcoming year would be derailed by the error.
