I know my schedule s slipping, no need to remind me. To compensate, in a glorious redemption/massice copout, today I bring you. two mapsets. Again? And it s not even mapset week? But, you see, both mapsets are by Laz Rojas, so I get to advance the goal of completing the mod backlog of Mac celebrities while being a lazy jerk about it. Suits me, suits you (not), so no complaining, right? Let s move on to today s actual content.
Sitting on 150-acres of woodland in Basking Ridge, New Jersey, is a castle built in the 17
th century Norman style, looking rather out of place in the rural countryside here and more like something out of a fairy tale. It was originally built in 1923, by New York advertising executive Bill Beaty, who called it Pharelock Castle and moved in with his wife, Sarah, and four children before it was even completed. At the time it was quite the opulent, ambitious project, and the castle would sport 29 rooms, a slate roof, stained glass, intricate homemade floor tiles, a tower, a great hall and winding staircases, and it was to be Beaty’s dream home, but he sadly died of pneumonia before he ever saw his dream come to fruition, left to go on with construction for a further 5 years while his grieving wife and children lived within its cold walls. Born in 1890, Andrews had always been fascinated by knights and medieval history, and when he was drafted into service during World War I in 1918 he continued these studies. He was stationed in France, and he found it distasteful how the enemies would wail on each other at a distance rather than engaging in more traditional face to face combat like in the old days.
Dean Buckley has conducted several paranormal investigations at the haunted Conisbrough Castle in Doncaster, England, and he even captured two photographs of what appeared to be a ghostly monk. The pictures were actually taken five years apart and appear to show the monk who is said to walk along the walls of the castle. The. Read more »
